Ft Stewart PWOC Hosts Valentine Event for Military Couples, Friday, February 10, 2017, 6-9 PM

Corie Weathers, author of Sacred Spaces: My Journey to the Heart of Military Marriage, and her husband, US Army Chaplain Matthew Weathers, are guest speakers at a special Valentine evening for military couples. Hosted by Fort Stewart PWOC, the event takes place Friday, February 10, 2017, 6-9 PM at the Fort Stewart Main Chapel. An Evening in Paris will be an elegant evening for military couples to celebrate their marriage, spend time with one another, and be reminded of the joy of their relationship. The event will be catered, with the 3ID Jazz Band performing. Tickets are $10 per couple and seating is limited.

In celebration of Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Judy Davis, author of Right Side Up: Find Your Way When Military Life Turns You Upside Down, will lead an event at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, May 12, 2017. Two sessions are offered: 10 AM - Noon or 6:30-8:30 PM, both at the APG Main Post Chapel, Fellowship Hall. Judy will present tools, strategies, and inspiration to help military spouses and others living the military lifestyle turn around the most difficult aspects of military life. She will sign books following the sessions. Registration is required.

Corie Weathers Leads Retreat for Women at JB Lewis-McCord, April 13-15, 2018

Corie Weathers, author of Sacred Spaces: My Journey to the Heart of Military Marriage, is the featured speaker for a Lifegiver Strengths women’s retreat, organized by the Protestant Women of the Chapel at Joint Base Lewis-McCord April 13 – 15, 2018. “We will discover together what we do well and how to find define our sense of purpose,” Corie says. While in Washington, Corie will also meet with members of a JBLM Sacred Spaces book club. The members have been reading and discussing her book, which is based on Corie's experiences with deployment and healing in her military marriage.

Barnes Shares Column-Writing Insights at National High School Journalism Convention

Terri Barnes, Elva Resa’s senior editor and the creator of a popular and long-running column in Stars and Stripes, led a workshop called “Becoming A Columnist” at the Spring National High School Journalism Convention in San Francisco , California, April 14, 2018. She also served as a judge for the Write-Off Contest at the convention, which is co-sponsored by the Journalist Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association. With more than 4,000 delegates from hundreds of schools, the JEA/NSPA convention is the largest gathering of student journalists in the country.
