¡Atrapa la estrella! Releases Oct. 26, 2021

NEW BOOK RELEASE
Spanish edition of popular children’s book Night Catch

(St. Paul, MN)—Elva Resa Publishing, an award-winning independent publisher specializing in books for and about military families, is pleased to announce the October 26, 2021 release of the children’s picture book ¡Atrapa la estrella! by Brenda Ehrmantraut, translated by Ana Stevenson, and illustrated by retired artist Vicki Wehrman. The book is a lyrical, contextual translation of Brenda’s popular book Night Catch, a favorite among military children since 2005.

When a soldier has to go to the other side of the world for his work, he and his son play a game with the North Star. “Not ball as usual in the park, but something special after dark.”

Brenda wrote Night Catch while her brother was in the Middle East on military assignment. She wanted to create a story that would connect and comfort his family during their year apart. The story was written to be timeless and appeal to any two people separated by circumstances. Using the North Star as a common point of reference, the story helps families feel connected, even when they are separated.

¡Atrapa la estrella! is especially for children with US military parents who prefer to read children’s books in Spanish. According to the Department of Defense, approximately 16 percent of US active-duty military members identify as Hispanic or Latinx and represent the fastest-growing population.

The English edition of the book is a popular staple in national literacy and military family programs, including United Through Reading and Military Child Education Coalition’s parent programs. A full-dome planetarium show of the book was produced by Mayborn Science Theater in Killeen, Texas.
