Star’s Purpose Releases in English and Spanish July 23, 2024

NEW BOOK RELEASE
Picture book by military mom offers another way to think about service and connecting with deployed loved ones

(St. Paul, MN)—Elva Resa Publishing, well known in the military community for its meaningful deployment resources, will release a connection story in English and Spanish on July 23, 2024. In Star’s Purpose: A Military Mission and El propósito de Estrella: Una misión militar, written by military mom Krista Betcher, illustrated by Brian Schmidt, and translated by Gabriella Aldeman, an aspiring star and her friends find their special purpose serving with military service members day and night.

Drawing from her personal journey as a military mom while her son was away at basic training and then deployed, Krista created a comforting story to help children create their own sense of connection to a deployed loved one.

In the book, Alice’s dad tells her a story about a special star the night before he deploys. Star and her friends twinkled brightly at night, but they wanted to make a difference all the time. One day, the curious stars step a little too close to the edge of the clouds and tumble down, landing on service members.

Families will be reassured with Alice’s gentle reminder that, “Every time I see a star, I’ll think of you. And stars are everywhere!”

Includes values from each US military branch, and themes of service, aspirations, and emotional connection.
