Foreword Reviews names The Meat and Potatoes of Life Gold Winner

(St. Paul, MN, June 18, 2021)— Award-winning independent publisher Elva Resa Publishing is honored to share the news that its book The Meat and Potatoes of Life: My True Lit Rom Com by Lisa Smith Molinari has received the Gold Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards recognition for Humor.

Foreword INDIES recognize the best books published in 2020 from small, independent, and university presses, receiving more than 2,100 entries this year in 55 categories. Foreword’s editors choose approximately 9 finalists per genre, and individual librarians and booksellers were tasked with picking the Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention winners. You can view all the winners here.

Lisa’s witty memoir, a lit com written in episodes contained in seasons, follows her family’s real-life coming of age story. Lisa gives up her law career to become a navy wife and stay-at-home mom of three quirky kids and a perpetually shedding dog. Molinari family transitions from marriage through raising kids to an empty nest.

“We are extremely proud of this acknowledgment. This was a challenging but rewarding book to create, especially with the launch during the 2020 pandemic,” says publisher Karen Pavlicin. “But this recognition—among others—represents Elva Resa fulfilling its mission to publish books that make a difference in people’s lives. During an especially stressful and isolating time, who doesn’t need a good dose of laughter and a relatable family story?”

The Meat and Potatoes of Life has also won the Silver IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award for Humor and is a finalist in the Midwest Book Awards.

The Meat and Potatoes of Life is available everywhere books are sold, with case and bulk sales from MilitaryFamilyBooks.com.
