Vet Arts: Writing and Movement Workshop Series Aug 27-Oct 1, 2018 in Raleigh, NC

United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County will host a workshop series to provide veterans an opportunity to explore writing and movement in a fun artistic creation process with writer Mimi Herman, dancer Michelle Pearson, and dancer/veteran Alfredo Hurtado. Veterans and military spouses from all military branches are welcome. The workshop will take place on Mondays, noon-2 PM, August 27–October 1, 2018. There will be no class on Labor Day, September 3. The concluding session on Oct 1 will take place at 5:30 PM. All sessions will take place at the United Arts Council on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh, North Carolina. Cost is $25.

Amanda and Stacy will talk with host Crystal Niehoff about Seasons of My Military Student, which gives parents and teachers guidance for supporting military-connected students. The authors will also answer questions from callers during the podcast, available on ArmyWifeNetwork.com.

Strive Publishing will host a gala to celebrate diversity in children’s literature, spotlighting its three founding authors, Thurs., Aug. 16, 2018, 6–10 PM Central. The semi-formal event will take place at the historic James J. Hill Center in St Paul, Minnesota. Gala attendees will have the opportunity to talk with Strive Publishing's three founding authors: Ricardo Peters (Under the Cloven Sky); Linda Miller (Isaiah's Sunglasses); and Donna Gingery (Red's Adventures: The Egg Pie).

Seasons of My Military Student Coauthors at MCEC NTS July 23-25, 2018

Amanda Trimillos, EdD, and Stacy Allsbrook-Huisman, coauthors of Seasons of My Military Student: Practical Ideas for Parents and Teachers, will appear at Military Child Education Coalition's 2018 National Training Seminar, July 23–25, 2018, in Washington, DC. The authors will be featured at the Resource and Leadership Showcase on July 24, 11:45 AM – 1:30 PM Eastern, and will sign books at the showcase as well as later that afternoon at 5 PM at the onsite MCEC Bookstore.

Barnes to Talk About the Power of Stories at MSOY Town Hall, May 9, 2018

Elva Resa’s senior editor, Terri Barnes, will speak about “Telling Your Story” at the 2018 Military Spouse of the Year Town Hall on May 9, 2018, in Washington, DC. Drawing on her expertise as a journalist, author, and book editor, Barnes will talk to a gathering of military spouses and military supporters from across the nation about the power of story to convey important messages, and how to tell personal stories effectively. The Town Hall is free and open to all military spouses. Registration by May 2 is required.
