Second Edition BOOK RELEASE
Guided journal helps military kids express thoughts and feelings during loved one’s deployment
(St. Paul, MN) — Award-winning independent publisher Elva Resa Publishing is pleased to announce the April 27, 2021, release of the second edition of Deployment Journal for Kids by Rachel Robertson.
Created especially for military kids, this popular journal offers comforting words and a special place to express feelings and record experiences when a parent or other loved one is deployed.
“Military children need a way to process their unique feelings and experiences,” says Rachel. “I wrote this journal to respond to the specific needs of military children facing a deployment.”
Rachel wrote the original Deployment Journal for Kids (2005) after seeing the benefits of journaling first hand. “My daughter Hanna was comforted by journaling, writing letters to her dad during his deployments,” says Rachel. “Hanna was excited about keeping memories to later share with him. And as a child development professional I knew these practices would help her build healthy coping strategies and her resilience. I wanted to make a journal for other kids that would do the same for them.”
The first edition sold more than 50,000 copies. The updated second edition features a fun new design, enhanced writing prompts, pages to help kids better understand their feelings, ideas for keeping in touch, new goal-setting pages, and interesting military facts.
“As a parent and educator, I wanted to find the most effective methods to support and nurture children through this challenging experience,” says Rachel. “It was really important to me to include more guided pages to help kids understand and express their feelings, with plenty of room to find their own voice.”
Deployment Journal for Kids (2nd edition) comes in the same convenient size as the original, lays flat with wire-o binding, and guides kids through the journey from getting ready to saying goodbye, during deployment through reunion. Young journal keepers will find encouragement for difficult days, ideas for healthy activities, and plenty of journaling pages to tell their own story through words and pictures.
Especially helpful for kids ages 7-12 and appropriate for any service branch.
