Quinette Cook is an award-winning children’s and young adult author and artist.
She used mixed media to create the art in Home Moves With Me (Mi hogar se muda conmigo in Spanish), selected by United Through Reading as the 2026 Book for the Military Child. She painted traditionally with watercolors to create the soft and playful images in Military Life: Stories and Poems for Children, which received a Moonbeam Children’s Book Gold Medal Award and was a Midwest Book Awards Finalist.
Quinette holds a BS in Commercial Art & Design (University of Minnesota) and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults (Hamline University). She is a regional advisor emeritis of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Her young adult verse novel, Gilt, received an SCBWI Work of Outstanding Promise.
Quinette’s father served in the Korean War and her sister served in the Navy. Quinette lives in Minnesota with her husband and dog, and can often be found in her studio or garden.
