Third Edition BOOK RELEASE
Journal guides spouses, fiancées, partners, special friends, through the emotional journey of a loved one’s military deployment.
(St. Paul, MN)— Award‐winning independent publisher Elva Resa Publishing is pleased to announce the March 1, 2019 release of the third edition of Deployment Journal for Spouses: Memories and Milestones by Rachel Robertson. This popular journal guides military spouses, fiancées, partners, or special friends through the emotional journey of a loved one’s deployment. The latest edition has all the features that make the journal a perennial favorite, plus a fresh new design and enhanced content.
“Deployment is often a stressful and emotional time, and journaling is a proven tool for managing stress and processing complex emotions,” says author and educator Rachel Robertson. A journal can help military spouses and families manage these and other challenges, especially a journal designed specifically for them and their deployment experience.
Rachel was inspired to create a series of journals, including Deployment Journal for Parents and Deployment Journal for Kids, as she supported herself and her children through her husband’s deployments with the Marine Corps.
“I used journaling to help make sense of a brand new and very difficult experience,” she says. “Keeping records of my thoughts fears, hopes, and memories gave me perspective, serenity, and sometimes it’s what helped me sleep at night. Journaling allowed me to hurt and heal at the same time.”
First released in 2008, Deployment Journal for Spouses is an important element of Elva Resa’s bestselling deployment portfolio. The company is known for its focus on supporting military families and its partnerships with key national organizations. In 2018, Elva Resa created a custom-branded edition of the journal for USO Spouse Care Packages.
“At Elva Resa, we interact with military spouses every day,” says senior editor Terri Barnes. “As our team worked with Rachel on this new edition, it was important to us to keep elements that really resonated with individual military spouses, while updating the design and enhancing the content. We also considered production elements that help organizations like the USO, and the many deploying military units we support, continue to incorporate the journal into their programs.”
The latest edition of Deployment Journal for Spouses includes an expanded variety of page formats for personal expression and a section for recording special moments. Gentle writing prompts, inspirational quotes, and practical ideas and tips offer encouragement and perspective.
The journal remains a sewn hardcover with a yellow ribbon. The new botanical design evokes thoughts of growth, hopefulness, and progress through the days of deployment, from saying goodbye through homecoming.
“This journal is tailored to the unique experiences of military life,” says Rachel. “My own experience as a military spouse and meeting so many admirable military spouses left a permanent imprint on who I am.”
She emphasizes the journal is helpful for spouses experiencing their first deployment and for those who have been through multiple deployments.
“No matter what stage of life you’re in or how many separations you endure, taking time to reflect and process is so important,” says Rachel. “The best life isn’t avoiding stress and challenges. The best life is developing ways to build skills and resilience to live and grow through the challenges.”
