Kathie Hightower is an accomplished author, columnist, and international speaker, who retired as an Army Reserve lieutenant colonel after 26 years of service. Her unique combination of experience wearing the uniform and being a military spouse allows her to give readers a realistic view into how to live your best life possible.
A successful business leader, Kathie is a sought-after speaker in both the military and civilian sectors. Her transition from being in the military to becoming a ‘dependent’ inspired her to write the encouraging Military Spouse Journey and 1001 Things to Love About Military Life. She believes that by sharing life’s lessons of spouses she met along her own journey, as well as research-based life tools, she can influence her peers to make the most out of each military assignment. She wrote the essay “Dare to Dream” in Stories Around the Table based on her personal experience managing her career and life dreams throughout her mobile military lifestyle.
Through her various workshops, Kathie teaches audiences how to access possibilities and “Jump into Life.” She and coauthor Holly Scherer have presented their workshop Follow Your Dreams While You Follow the Military for military spouses all over the United States, Europe, Japan, and Korea.
Kathie received her degree in German from the University of Virginia. In her free time, she loves to do yoga, hoopdance, travel, garden, and read. Her favorite quote, from Cicero, states: “If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”
