Elva Resa Publishing is an award-winning, mission-driven independent publisher specializing in resources for and about military family life. Due to planned growth and expansion, we are seeking experienced publishing professionals who enjoy a balance of strategic responsibility and hands-on execution in an entrepreneurial environment. As part of a collaborative virtual team, you will apply your exceptional talents to key programs that inform, empower, and add value to the communities we serve.

We are currently seeking a Senior Editor, Senior Marketer, and Senior Designer to function as our core leadership team, working collaboratively with the Publisher to lead our expansion. All team members work on a remote basis and no relocation is required. These are full-time, salaried positions eligible for benefits. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Senior Editor

Exempt, salaried member of the leadership Core Team reporting directly to the Publisher.

As Elva Resa’s primary content curator responsible for books, publications, and communications, you will plan, acquire, write, edit, and manage content in a variety of formats about all aspects of military family life. You are a champion for our authors and readers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Book Editor: Acquire and edit books and manage the content lifecycle of the entire book portfolio. Serve as primary author liaison. Manage contract editors and proofreaders as needed.
  • Publications Managing Editor: Plan and manage the editorial calendar and content delivery for Elva Resa’s online publications. Write monthly articles, enewsletters, and social media posts. Assign and edit freelance-written articles and manage freelance writers.
  • Company Communications: Collaborate with core team to produce and maintain effective, brand-building communications. Manage the overall communications plan. Write news releases, catalog copy, and other communications as needed.

To succeed in this position your exceptional skills and experience will include:

  • At least three years of hands-on book editing for a publisher
  • Reader-focused editorial vision
  • Strong writing and editing, developmental through proofreading
  • Creating and applying house style guides and Chicago Manual of Style
  • Understanding of military family life, military terminology, and cultural nuances that impact voice, meaning, and storytelling
  • Advanced organization and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Effective communication and collaboration with virtual teams within and outside the company
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe collaborative editing tools, website content systems, and social media tools

Desired (but not required) experience:

  • Spanish language fluency, subsidiary rights, strong relationships in the military community
  • Direct military family life experience

Senior Marketer

Exempt, salaried member of the leadership Core Team reporting directly to the Publisher.

As Elva Resa’s marketing expert responsible for customer conversion and loyalty, you will plan, execute, and manage our book marketing campaigns, bulk purchasing program, online store, and marketing materials. You are a champion for our customers and partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Book Marketing: Develop and execute book marketing campaigns for individual books and product portfolios. Manage digital marketing and advertising. Maintain effective metadata and marketing communications materials. Collaborate with trade distributor and manage the work of external marketing professionals as needed.
  • Bulk Purchasing Program: Manage direct purchasing channel, focused on cultivating relationships with key military and education customers who purchase in case and bulk quantities.
  • Military Family Books Store: Curate products from multiple publishers of interest to our military customers and partners. Manage online store and bulk catalog products, pricing, and promotion.

To succeed in this position your exceptional skills and experience will include:

  • At least three years of hands-on book marketing for a publisher
  • Customer-focused marketing vision
  • Developing and executing effective book marketing campaigns and marketing communications materials, including digital marketing
  • Customer relationship management best practices
  • Understanding of military family life and key influencers in the military community
  • Advanced organization and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Effective communication and collaboration with virtual teams within and outside the company
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ecommerce and online content systems, and social media tools

Desired (but not required) experience:

  • Subsidiary rights sales, strong relationships in military or education markets, online store management
  • Direct military family life experience

Senior Designer

Exempt, salaried member of the leadership Core Team reporting directly to the Publisher.

As Elva Resa’s primary creative expert responsible for book design and production, company branding, and digital asset management, you will plan, design, produce, and manage book covers and interiors in multiple formats, visual brand assets, and marketing communications materials, as well as manage creative technology platforms. You are a champion for our brand and quality publication production.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Book Design and Production: Develop creative design and production of books in all formats and related multimedia marketing communications materials. Collaborate with and manage the work of manufacturing partners, multimedia producers, contract designers, illustrators, photographers, videographers, developers, and other creative specialists as needed.
  • Visual Brand and Asset Manager: Create, produce, and manage Elva Resa’s visual brand, image library, logos, website designs, marketing communications, and online publication visuals. Maintain updates to digital assets, technology platforms, and production files.

To succeed in this position your exceptional skills and experience will include:

  • At least three years of hands-on book design and production for a publisher
  • Brand-focused creative vision
  • Compelling and effective book cover and interior design principles
  • Expert knowledge of color management and prepress best practices
  • Understanding of military family life and cultural nuances that impact visual design
  • Advanced organization and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Effective communication and collaboration with virtual teams within and outside the company
  • Technical production expertise in Adobe Creative tools, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

Desired (but not required) experience:

  • Web development, app development, video production
  • Direct military family life experience
