Lori Eslick Art Exhibit May 19-June 5, 2015

May 19, 2015 - June 5, 2015

The Arts Council of White Lake is featuring the artwork of nationally-recognized illustrator Lori Eslick May 19- June 5, 2015 at 106 E. Colby St., Whitehall, Michigan.

Lori is a children’s book illustrator and magazine author and illustrator. Her art accompanies great poets and author’s books, and she is able to visually respond to a poem or manuscript with drawings and paintings. Lori describes her work as an illustrator as a “visual reactionary to text.”  A few of the books that Lori has illustrated include: DOES GOD KNOW HOW TO TIE SHOES? (which has sold over 200,000 copies), IF JESUS CAME TO MY HOUSE, BAREFOOT (Bank Street College List of the Best Children’s books of the year) and THE GOOD FIRE HELMET (Mom’s Choice Awards Gold).

Lori is often inspired by the state park a short distance from her Michigan home. She says, “To paint just for me, in the open air is a passion. How very lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place, Western Michigan, which for me, is a four mile bike ride to Lake Michigan and even quicker in the car. For inspiration we go to the beach all seasons.  Listening to the waves, walking the beach is so beautiful, you will often find me painting at the beach, while my family enjoys the waves.”

Lori’s art also appears in the May and June 2015 issues of Wyoming Wildlife Magazine, and the May/June 2015 issue of Gray’s Sporting Journal.

You may view more of Lori’s work, including her plein air paintings on her Pinterest site.
