Amy Houts, the daughter of an Army tech sergeant, has written more than 50 books for children. She was inspired to write “When Mommy Comes Home” and “When Daddy Comes Home,” poems in Military Life: Stories and Poems for Children, after reading about a mother saying goodbye to her young children before deploying.
An award-winning writer, Amy’s numerous short stories, nonfiction articles, and poems have appeared in VFW Magazine, Ladybug Magazine, and American Profile Magazine. Her many books include: Mealtime Magic: Delicious Dinners in Half the Time (Houts & Home Publications LLC); Think Like a Scientist (Pearson Learning Group); and Dora the Explorer Safety (Learning Horizons).
Amy spends her days mostly at home writing and running her own publishing company, Houts & Home Publications LLC. Amy and her husband, Steve, have two grown daughters.
