Marna Ashburn grew up an Air Force brat, served as an active duty aviation officer in the US Army for five years, and was an Army spouse for twenty years. She wrote “Manners Still Matter” in Stories Around the Table: Laughter, Wisdom, and Strength in Military Life.
About her story, Marna says, “I’ve committed my share of embarrassing social faux pas, and I’ve often thought it would be great if there were a concise and easy-to-read guide on manners and etiquette so we didn’t have to learn it the hard way.” That was also her motivation behind her 64 Easy Answers About Etiquette for the Modern Military Spouse, written in FAQ format.
Her other books (published name Krajeski) include Household Baggage: The Moving Life of a Military Wife; Household Baggage Handlers: 56 Stories From the Hearts and Lives of Military Wives; 64 Answers About Etiquette for the Modern Military Spouse; and Small GetTogethers: A Planner, Organizer, and Keepsake for Simple Events with Family and Friends.
Marna attended the College of William and Mary and earned an MA in English at Austin Peay State University. A former college writing instructor, she’s mother to two teenagers and a contributor to Military Spouse magazine.
She currently lives in Savannah, Georgia.
