Do you wish you could do half of what this superwoman does? Have you given up trying? In this workshop\, Sara offers a different perspective based on her year-long experiment studying this biblical woman so many say is our ideal but so many of us feel incapable of becoming. What DOES it look like to follow God in our day-to-day mom and wife life? And is perfection really required? God doesn’t ask for our perfection\, just our availability. \n314 — How Can I Possibly Forgive? \nEveryone experiences conflict and disappointment in life. But some hurts are harder to get over than others. Forgiveness isn’t always easy\, even when it’s asked for. But refusing to forgive can impact you in ways you might not realize until years of bitterness have developed. In this workshop\, Sara will walk you through seven habits of highly resentful people\, as well as seven habits of highly forgiving people\, and how you can begin a healing conversation with yourself and God to forgive what’s kept you from moving forward once and for all. Let Sara help you: \n\nIdentify any bad habits you’ve adopted when it comes to forgiving others\, and learn the good habits you can apply today.\nLearn three steps you can use to move past hurt even when the person who caused it is unable or refuses to apologize or admit responsibility.\nRealize the importance of forgiveness\, and what it means in your relationship with God.\nDevelop a deeper understanding of grace and how you can apply it in your day to day relationships\, including your family members.\n\nSara is the founder of Wives of Faith\, a ministry for military wives. SUMMARY:Kathie Hightower Shares Fav Books at Cloud & Leaf's Indies First\, Nov. 28\, 2015
DESCRIPTION:Kathie Hightower\, coauthor of Military Spouse Journey and Stories Around the Table is one of several Oregon-based authors who will participate in Indies First at the Cloud & Leaf Bookstore\, 148 Laneda Ave\, Manzanita\, Oregon on Saturday\, November 28\, 2015\, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Pacific. That day is also Small Business Saturday\, one of the busiest shopping days of the year and the perfect time to find books for holiday gifts. \nIndies First is a way for authors to show their support and gratitude for their local independent booksellers. One of the things independent bookstores do well is handsell books\, introducing readers to books they might not hear about otherwise. These can be bestsellers\, but just as often they are great books from small publishing houses or self-published books that don’t quickly get press\, titles that might not gain a foothold in the book world without the efforts of indies. \nAuthors participating in Cloud & Leaf’s  Indies First event will share some of their favorite books–not their own books\, but other books they personally love. The local authors who will be at Cloud & Leaf in addition to Kathie Hightower include:  Lauren Kessler (Counterclockwise\, The Write Path)\, Holly Lorincz (Smart Mouth\, How Do I Find A Literary Agent?)\, Phyllis Mannan (Torn Fish)\, Deborah Reed (Things We Set on Fire\, Carry Yourself Back to Me)\, Floyd Skloot (Approaching Winter)\, Mark Scott Smith (Enemy in the Mirror). \nFor information\, contact Kathie Hightower at 503-739-1505\, or Jody Swanson\, at 503-368-2665.

SUMMARY:Corie Weathers Shares Sacred Spaces on Army Wife Talk Radio Aug 1\, 2016\, 7 PM CT
DESCRIPTION:Corie Weathers\, author of Sacred Spaces: My Journey to the Heart of Military Marriage\, is a featured guest on Army Wife Talk Radio on Monday\, August 1\, 2016 at 7 PM Central. She will talk about her new book and the journey that helped her discover a new perspective of her military marriage. \nAs the 2015 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year\, Corie traveled on an overseas holiday trip with US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter in December 2015. She wanted to better understand her husband’s deployments and share her experience with other military spouses. \nLike many military couples\, Corie and her husband\, Matt\, an Army chaplain\, accumulated significant unshared moments during Matt’s deployments. Matt lost friends and fellow soldiers to combat in Afghanistan. On the home front\, Corie sat with bereaved military families and walked through dark days with new widows as a friend and professional counselor. When Matt returned\, he and Corie began using the term “sacred spaces” for these and other significant moments they had experienced independently. After multiple deployments\, sacred spaces were taking up a lot of emotional room in their relationship. \nCorie’s trip brought her to Turkey\, Iraq\, Afghanistan\, and the Persian Gulf\, where she spoke with military families stationed overseas and deployed troops on the ground\, in the air\, and at sea.  As she sat in the belly of a C-17\, where her husband had said goodbye to the remains of friends and fellow soldiers\, as she touched with her own hands the memorial at FOB Fenty and reflected on her grief as a care team member following the battle of COP Keating\, Corie realized this journey was about much more than the push-pull of duty away from loved ones. \nListen in as Corie talks about her powerful experience\, the impact of sacred spaces in any marriage\, and how couples can strengthen their relationship by intentionally pursuing their spouse’s heart. \nArmy Wife Talk Radio is an internet talk radio show for Army wives\, by Army wives. Listen to the show.
