DESCRIPTION:Children’s author Amy Houts will talk to second through sixth graders from seven Missouri school districts about her writing at the Nevada\, Missouri Young Authors’ Conference on Saturday\, April 26\, 2014\, noon to 4 PM Central. This year\, 201 elementary students from Appleton City\, Ballard\, El Dorado Springs\, Hume\, Nevada\, Sheldon\, and St. Mary’s have registered for the conference\, which has a theme of “Creating Adventures Beyond the Mind.” Tom Birdseye\, Corvallis\, Oregon will also speak. \nAmy is the author of “When Mommy Comes Home” and “When Daddy Comes Home” in Military Life: Stories and Poems for Children and several other children’s books.  Students at the conference will receive a copy of her book\, Down on the Farm. \nThe event takes place at Truman Elementary School in Nevada\, Missouri. Registration for this year is full. School districts are invited in the fall to attend this annual spring event. For more information\, contact fourth grade teacher Fran Furry.
