Drawing on her expertise as a journalist\, author\, and book editor\, Barnes will talk to a gathering of military spouses and military supporters from across the nation about the power of story to convey important messages\, and how to tell personal stories effectively. \nBarnes is the author of Spouse Calls: Messages From a Military Life\, a best-of collection from her long-running column in Stars and Stripes\, and a coauthor of Stories Around the Table: Laughter\, Wisdom\, and Strength in Military Life. \nThe Town Hall takes place May 9\, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM\, at The Bolling Club on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling\, 50 Theisen Street in Washington\, DC. The annual event features a full day of speakers and influencers in the military spouse community and is sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance. \nA continental breakfast and seated lunch are provided\, and the event closes with a cocktail reception. The Town Hall is free and open to all military spouses. Registration is required and is open until May 2. \nThe Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year award will be announced May 10\, at the USO-Metro Gala.
