DESCRIPTION:Corie Weathers\, author of Sacred Spaces: My Journey to the Heart of Military Marriage\, is the featured speaker for a women’s retreat at Cascades Camp and Conference Center in Yelm\, Washington\, April 13 – 15\, 2018. \nCorie’s emphasis for the Lifegiver Strengths Event\, organized by the Protestant Women of the Chapel at Joint Base Lewis-McCord\, is “Wired by God: Completing the Circuit.” The focus of the event is leadership training for women in all areas of life. During the retreat\, participants will take an assessment revealing their natural talents. \n“We will discover together what we do well and how to find define our sense of purpose\,” Corie says. \nWhile in Washington\, Corie will also meet with the members of a Sacred Spaces book club at Joint Base Lewis-McCord. The members have been reading and discussing her book\, which is based on Corie’s experiences with deployment and healing in her military marriage. Corie’s story and insights inspire other military and first-responder couples to pursue wholeness and understanding. \n“The book provides a wonderful platform for vulnerable discussion\,” says Ashley Murray\, facilitator of the Lewis-McCord book club. “For our group\, this journey has provided honest reflections on being a military spouse\, resources for hope in how we can move forward\, and empowerment in how we can share our stories with others.” \nFor questions about the retreat or to register to attend\, contact event coordinator Cathy Hicks at PWOC.
