Cindy Shaw is married to an army military police officer. They currently live on post next to the parade field. Each evening, their children run out to watch the lowering of the flag, inspiring her poem “It’s Five O’Clock” in Military Life: Stories and Poems for Children.
Cindy graduated from the University of Maryland, European Division, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She has always loved reading and writing. She currently volunteers at her childrens’ school in Wahiawa, Hawaii, where she is the coordinator for the incentive reading program and a volunteer librarian.
