Artis Henderson is the surviving spouse of CW2 Miles Henderson, US Army, and an award-winning journalist. She wrote “Secondary Losses” in Stories Around the Table: Laughter, Wisdom, and Strength in Military Life. Military widowhood comes with many losses, and Artis is grateful not to have counted her Army family among them.
She is the author of the book Unremarried Widow. Her articles and essays have appeared in The New York Times, Reader’s Digest, Florida Weekly, and the online literary journal Common Ties.
Artis has an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate degree from Columbia University’s School of Journalism. She lives in New York City.
