Vet Arts: Writing and Movement Workshop Series Aug 27-Oct 1, 2018 in Raleigh, NC

United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County will host a workshop series to provide veterans an opportunity to explore writing and movement in a fun artistic creation process with writer Mimi Herman, dancer Michelle Pearson, and dancer/veteran Alfredo Hurtado. Veterans and military spouses from all military branches are welcome. The workshop will take place on Mondays, noon-2 PM, August 27–October 1, 2018. There will be no class on Labor Day, September 3. The concluding session on Oct 1 will take place at 5:30 PM. All sessions will take place at the United Arts Council on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh, North Carolina. Cost is $25.

Barnes Shares Column-Writing Insights at National High School Journalism Convention

Terri Barnes, Elva Resa’s senior editor and the creator of a popular and long-running column in Stars and Stripes, led a workshop called “Becoming A Columnist” at the Spring National High School Journalism Convention in San Francisco , California, April 14, 2018. She also served as a judge for the Write-Off Contest at the convention, which is co-sponsored by the Journalist Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association. With more than 4,000 delegates from hundreds of schools, the JEA/NSPA convention is the largest gathering of student journalists in the country.

Deborah Tainsh, author of Heart of a Hawk: One Family’s Sacrifice & Journey Toward Healing is leading a series of classes on memoir writing at the Panama City Beach Public Library. The continuing sessions take place Thursdays, March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM at the library in Panama City Beach, Florida. Registration is required for the free multi-session class.

Elva Resa Publishing will host Table 18 at the 2015 Bloomington Writers Festival and Book Fair on Sat., March 28, 2015, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central. Author and editor Marly Cornell will sign books throughout the day. Author and publisher Karen Pavlicin-Fragnito will sign books in the afternoon.
